Frequently Asked Questions
Below you'll find answers to the questions we get asked the most about SIMVANA. If you can't find an answer to your question below, feel free to Contact Us us here.
SIMVANA is a VR application containing an immersive virtual operating room and an intricately designed physics-based anesthesia machine that replicates a real-world machine in how it behaves and responds to user actions.
SIMVANA is designed for first-year anesthesia residents, nurse anesthesia students, and interns preparing for their anesthesia rotation. It allows learners to familiarize themselves with the operating room, the anesthesia machine, how to perform a complete machine checkout, and how to handle emergencies related to the anesthesia machine and its related components.
SIMVANA includes Machine Basics 1-3, which cover the fundamentals of the anesthesia machine over approximately 65 lessons. At the end of each section is a challenge phase in which the learner is given a problem to solve taken directly from the lessons. Refer to our features page for a list of mastery lessons.
The first commercial release of SIMVANA is expected to be available in Late April or early May of 2022.
For safety reasons, Oculus requires a minimum user area that is 6 feet by 6 feet (1.83m X 1.83m) and completely free of obstructions. Larger spaces are recommended as they allow for greater freedom of movement.
- In addition, the Quest 2 requires a Meta account for setup and use. A generic account for your simulation department would be suitable.
