Creating Lesson Plans

Build and assign customized SIMVANA lesson plans for learner cohorts.

Creating and editing lesson plans are only available to instructor level users of SIMVANA products.

The SIMVANA User portal allows instructors to create lesson plans of SIMVANA content for their cohorts. Lesson plans allow users to focus on the learning content that matches your cirriculum.

Creating and managing lesson plans is done through our user portal:

https://portal.simvana.com/lesson-planning

You can also access the lesson planning page by clicking on LESSON PLANNING under the Instructor Tools section of the left side navigation bar.

1. Select the Active cohort

Lesson plans are tied to specific cohorts of your institution. Each cohort can only have one lesson plan at a time.

In the upper right corner of the lesson planning page, select the cohort you want to create a lesson plan for from the drop-down list.

The window should show an empty section list on the left, and a list of available learning content on the right. If the section list is populated, that means there is already a lesson plan for this cohort. See the section below on editing an existing lesson plan.

2. Create a Section

Lesson plan sections represent groups of learning content that go together. Each section has:

  • A Name
  • A Due date (optional)
  • Learning content

Create a section by clicking the + button in the Sections window. A new section will be added to your lesson plan. Click on the section title to edit the name and due date. You can drag and reorder sections, or delete them altogether.

3. Adding Learning Content to a Section

Once your sections are created, you can add learning content to them. To add learning content to a section:

  1. Expand the cards in the Learning Content window to show the specific scenarios.
  2. Drag scenarios from the learning content column into the Section you want to add it to.
  3. You can remove scenarios from a Section by expanding the section card and dragging the scenario back over to the learning content column.

4. Saving a Lesson Plan

Once your lesson plan is setup the way you want. Click on the Save icon to save the lesson plan for the cohort. Once saved, it will appear in the VR app for learners to use.
