A **Device Preset** in Meta Horizon Device Manager allows your organization to configure multiple Meta Quest headsets with the same applications, network settings, permissions, and device settings. For SIMVANA deployments in simulation labs, classrooms, and training environments, we recommend using a **Shared Mode** device preset. Shared Mode is designed for organization-managed headsets that will be used by multiple people rather than assigned permanently to a single person. **Before you begin:** 1. Ensure you are an administrator of your Meta for Work Device Manager instance. 2. You have [Added SIMVANA applications](https://simvana.com/knowledge-base/adding-a-simvana-application-to-meta-for-work?hsLang=en) to your instance. ### Create the Device Preset 1. Sign in to **Meta Horizon Device Manager** using your organization's Meta for Work account. 2. Select **Devices** from the side menu. 3. Select **Device Presets**. 4. Click **Create device preset**. 5. Select **Shared Mode**. ### Configure the Preset Complete each section of the **Create Device Preset** form using the recommendations below. #### Details Enter a name and description that make the preset easy to identify. Recommended settings: - **Name:** SIMVANA - **Description:** For devices using SIMVANA software - **Require people to log in with a managed Meta account:** Disabled - **Time zone:** Select your institution's local time zone For most SIMVANA training environments, we recommend not requiring a managed Meta account. This allows different learners to use the same headset without signing into Meta individually. If your organization's policies require users to authenticate with managed Meta accounts, you can enable this option instead. **Important:** Meta does not allow the managed-account requirement to be directly changed after the Shared Mode preset has been created. Make sure this option is configured correctly before continuing. Click **Next**. #### Permissions Section Configure the permissions available to people using the headset. Recommended settings: - **Allow people in your organization to cast from their device:** Enabled - **Allow offline device sessions:** Disabled unless your organization specifically requires it Casting is useful in classroom and simulation environments because instructors can display what the learner is seeing in the headset on an external computer. Meta's offline device session option allows a user to begin a Shared Mode session while the headset is disconnected from the internet. Enabling this setting does not necessarily mean that individual applications will function without an internet connection. Click **Next**. #### Apps Section Select the SIMVANA applications that should be available on headsets using this preset. For example: - **SIMVANA Nursing** - **SIMVANA Anesthesia** Learn how to **[Add a SIMVANA application to your Meta for Work instance](https://simvana.com/knowledge-base/adding-a-simvana-application-to-meta-for-work?hsLang=en)**. Shared Mode devices can only access applications that have been assigned to the device. Click **Next**. #### Files Section SIMVANA does not require any files to be distributed through Meta Horizon Device Manager. You can leave this section empty and click **Next**. #### Settings Section Configure any network or device settings required by your institution. ##### Wi-Fi and VPN If your organization's Wi-Fi network has already been added to Meta Horizon Device Manager, assign it to the preset. This allows newly enrolled headsets to automatically receive the network configuration. ##### Certificates SIMVANA does not require additional certificates. Leave this section empty unless your organization's network requires them. ##### Security Settings For most SIMVANA installations, the default Meta security settings can be used. Your IT department may choose to configure additional restrictions based on your organization's security policies. Click **Next**. #### Device Experience Section Shared Mode presets include additional options for controlling what users see and can access while using the headset. For a typical SIMVANA deployment, the default device experience settings can be used. Unless your organization has a specific reason to change them, we recommend: - Do not enable **Single-App Experience** if users need access to multiple SIMVANA applications. - Leave the standard Shared Mode introduction and system experience enabled. - Configure access to headset settings according to your organization's IT policies. You can also customize the experience with your organization's logo or configure options such as Passthrough, Travel Mode, and boundary behavior. Click **Next**. #### Assignments Section Choose which devices should receive the preset. If SIMVANA will be the primary use for the organization's Meta Quest headsets, enable the option to make this preset the **default configuration for newly enrolled devices**. This causes newly enrolled headsets to automatically receive the SIMVANA preset. You can also assign the preset to specific: - Devices - Device groups If this is your organization's only device preset, making it the default enrollment configuration is recommended. Click **Next**. #### Review Section Review the configuration and verify that: - The preset is configured for **Shared Mode**. - The correct SIMVANA applications are assigned. - Casting is enabled. - The correct Wi-Fi network is assigned, if applicable. - The preset is configured as the default enrollment preset, if desired. When everything is correct, click **Assign**. ### Confirm the Preset Return to **Devices → Device Presets**. You should now see the new **SIMVANA** preset in the list.
