Review Simulation Progression
Learn how to review your Simulation Progression on the User portal
Use Simulations to review simulation completion, explore preparation lessons, and inspect recorded attempts. The portal provides both an event timeline and a detailed clinical debrief report.
These steps show your own data. Instructors can follow them while viewing a selected learner. See Reviewing Learner Data to open a learner's view first.
Overview
- Select Simulations under Progression in the left navigation.
- Review Lifetime Simulation Metrics at the top.
- Find the simulation you want to review among the cards below.
| Metric | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Total Simulations Completed | Successful simulation completions, including repeats. |
| Unique Simulations Completed | Different simulations completed out of the total available. |
| Total Time Spent in Simulations | Accumulated simulation usage time. |
Cards may display preparation information or View Metrics and View Debriefs buttons. If a card displays preparedness, select the card to open its details. A preparedness card can still have recorded attempts.
A simulation attempt is recorded when a learner starts a simulation and reaches a conclusion, whether pass or fail. Successful completion requires all objectives to be completed and the final step to be reached.
Preparedness Details
Preparedness reflects how many lessons related to a simulation you have completed.
- Find the simulation's preparedness card.
- Review % Prepared, Lessons Completed, Last Prepped For, and Est. Time Until Prepped.
- Select the card to open Simulation Details.
- Review the preparation summary and Next Recommended Category, when displayed.
- Explore Recommended Modules to identify related lessons.
The recommended-content widget has module and category navigation on the left and lesson details on the right. Expand a module and select a category to review its lesson completion data.
Preparedness describes progress through related learning content. It is separate from successful completion of the simulation itself.
Viewing Simulation Metrics
- Return to the Simulations overview.
- Select View Metrics on the relevant simulation card. If the card displays preparedness instead, select the card to open its details.
- Review the simulation-specific lifetime summary.
- Explore Recommended Modules for related lesson progress.
- Scroll to Simulation Attempts at the bottom of the page.
The summary can display completions, attempts, and usage time, or preparation information depending on the simulation's displayed state. The attempts table shows Attempt Timestamp, Time Spent, and Was Successful.
Reviewing an Attempt Timeline
- Select an attempt from Simulation Attempts.
- Review the timeline of simulation events.
- Expand entries to inspect step instructions, objectives, and the recorded outcome.
- Press Escape to return to the metrics page.
The timeline can show simulation start, step start, objective completion, and a completion or failure event. It is useful for reviewing the sequence of an individual attempt.
Viewing DebriefsView Debriefs opens the detailed clinical report, rather than the event timeline.
- Open the Simulations overview.
- Select View Debriefs for the simulation you want to review.
- Use the dropdown near the top to choose an attempt.
- Wait for the selected attempt's report to load.
- Scroll through the report.
Depending on the data recorded for that attempt, the report includes Pre Operation Data, Patient Vitals, Drug Administration, Volatile Anesthetics, Ventilation History, and Case Entries.
Downloading a Debrief PDF
- Open the simulation's View Debriefs page.
- Select the intended attempt from the dropdown.
- Check the simulation name and selected attempt before exporting.
- Select Download Debrief at the top of the page.
- Allow the export to finish, then open the PDF using your browser's download controls.
The export records the selected attempt's detailed clinical debrief. To review the step-by-step event timeline, open the attempt from View Metrics instead.
